Dr. Walsh has been a physician for over four decades and has one of the busiest practices in nephrology and internal medicine in Greenwich, CT. Dr. Walsh’s roots in the medical field date back to the mid-1960s, when received his undergraduate degree from College of the Holy Cross in 1963 and his medical school degree from New York Medical College in 1967. He did his internship and residency at Greenwich Hospital (1967-70), and completed his Fellowship in Nephrology at Duke University Medical Center in 1972. 

In addition, he served as a Major in the U.S. Army and Chief of Medical Services at Kenner Army Hospital in Fort Lee, VA (1972-74).  He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his distinguished service in 1974. 

Also of note, Dr. Walsh taught at the Medical College of Virginia, Yale University School of Medicine, Duke University, and New York Medical College. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Nephrology. 

Along with his private practice, Dr. Walsh is an attending physician at Greenwich Hospital, where he has been the Director of Nephrology since 1974. He was Chief of the Medical Staff from 1994-1997 and Assistant Chief from 1990-1993 at the hospital. He is also the Medical Director at The Mews in Greenwich and former Medical Director of the Nathaniel Witherall. In addition, he has provided medical

expertise to a long list of facilities, including Stamford Hospital, United Hospital in Port Chester, Greenwich Woods Nursing Home, Waveny House in New Canaan, Mediplex in Darien, and Homestead Health Center in Stamford, just to name a few. 

His prior training, teaching and work have all strengthened his commitment to taking care of the healthcare needs of his patients. Dr. Walsh is dedicated to making sure that all patients under his care are provided with the top-quality medical care for which he’s become renowned.

Greenwich Internal Medicine is lower Fairfield County's premier primary care for 56 years. Our location is in Cos Cob, CT, the practice welcomes new primary care patients and walk-in patients throughout the week. The office offers regular internal medicine, primary care, general practice care and Nephrology for adults, sick visits, walk-in care, urgent care visits, and physical examination appointments. The office accepts nearly all forms of medical insurance but also recommends the patient to contact insurance to confirm we are in-network.

Dr. Francis Walsh, owner of Greenwich Internal Medicine, is the go-to provider for Greenwich, Stamford, and other area patients and their families for comprehensive primary care services. Dr.Walsh and his team regularly cares for patients who have a variety of immediate care complaints including cold or flu symptoms, sinus infections, respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and other common ailments. He also manages chronic conditions, including asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and weight management is also available. The team treats patients quickly, so little wait time is to be expected and same day appointments are available.

To help with the diagnostic process and to provide comprehensive care, the office proudly offers on-site screenings. Patients can get same-day blood work

and urinalysis testing in the in-house lab, as well as orders for imaging tests, like X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs at nearby radiology facilities. The office also offers on-site electrocardiograms (EKGs). 

Also, patients can enjoy a continuity of care, since they can be seen by a physician that knows their medical history, because Dr. Walsh worked in the community for 56 years, he knows the area well and has direct access to local specialists and other medical professionals patients may need to see.
